Being vegan is not difficult. Nowadays is a real need. Not only for our health or for the animals. It’s important for the Planet.

Being vegan is a step beyond vegetarianism. While there are vegetarians who take dairy, honey or eggs, no vegan will approach these foods. Their diet is strictly vegetable, and they do not consume any food produced by an animal. In the same way, some extend their food philosophy to the rest of the plots of their lives and do not use clothing or equipment that has an animal origin.

The hard part of being vegan is changing some of our most ingrained customs. In countries like United States, England, Australia awareness is much greater than we have here in Spain and there are enough options to get to the supermarket and make a reasonable purchase.

In our country there are options, but saying goodbye to something as basic in our diet as milk, eggs or meat is complicated from the common gastronomic point of view. Making the purchase can be complex if you do not have a supermarket near you that offers vegan options, and even if that is the case, we all know the quality of the vegetables sold in large areas: in many cases, pure plastic without flavor.

For that reason, the first thing we should all do is to investigate, read and inform ourselves about what the vegan world consists of. On the internet you can find videos, pages dedicated to cooking, pages dedicated to activism, dietary and nutritional guides developed by professional people and a myriad of other things.

You must think about why so many people have decided to abandon an unhealthy lifestyle and adopt the vegan posture. It is very easy to laugh or ridicule someone for the simple fact of changing their diet but whoever does that, is someone who has not been well informed.

If you do not know how to cook, learn. Another myth of the vegan diet is that the dishes are difficult and expensive. That's a lie. The purchase of the week not only gives you to fill your refrigerator to the brim but it is cheaper and lasts longer.

If we overcome this first obstacle, we find ourselves with a second one. Going out to eat is very difficult. In many occasions you will be doomed to a simple salad without too much accompaniment. Of course, you will become an expert in finding sites that offer vegan options.
